Development Support

New and changing organizations need to remain focused on the job in hand but must make time to consider how they will work together, ensuring that there is a shared understanding of the organisational ethos, aims, objectives and supporting operational processes. We can help you to avoid common pitfalls by working with you to develop clearer organisational structures and commissioning processes so that you can focus on the real business of planning, co-ordinating an executing your commisioning strategies.

We support system-wide organizational development specifically for NHS commissioners, providers and CSUs and can often help organisations to identify what has been holding them back. We use a combination of analysis and review techniques alongside creative team building activities that challenge your team to think differently. Our consultants have skills in group facilitation alongside an in depth understanding of NHS commissioning and offer:

Training and Development Programme: Menu of modules you can choose to equip your team with the knowledge and skills they will need, according to your needs.

Workshops and Facilitation: Helping key teams within, or across, organisations achieve optimal performance through tailored, facilitated away days and break-outs

Simulation Events: Our interactive simulations provide a highly effective and flexible tool for increasing capabilities through hands-on experience whilst engendering team work and healthy competition.

Workshops and Facilitation

Effecting change in health services normally involves multiple stakeholders, all of which have their own priorities and potential difficulties. Making change happen in this whole system environment is complicated and often difficult, but the key to success is providing the right forums for influence, consultation and discussion.

Our consultants provide expert facilitation for large whole system groups and also for smaller working groups, helping people to challenge their assumptions about change. This can be particularly powerful when backed up with the analytical evidence that we can provide in making the case for change.

We can help your teams to achieve optimal performance through tailored, facilitated away days and break-outs

Simulation Events

Our interactive simulations provide a highly effective and flexible tool for increasing capabilities through hands-on experience whilst engendering team work and healthy competition.

Typically run over one or two days, we pit teams (either single discipline or spanning whole health economies) against a series of the challenges they may face within a financial cycle. The simulations use ‘real-life’ health system problems worked up with you and depending on your aims can help to:

  • Develop participants’ understanding of specific commissioning issues or processes (very useful Board development tool)
  • Increase awareness of the rigours that will be applied in performance management of commissioners
  • Test ideas about service change in a safe environment
  • Increase understanding of cross-organisational issues
  • Bring clarity about the roles of different organisations within the system

All Sims will be tailored to the exact requirements of the client and support on the day can run from a single anchor to full co-ordination.
